What does … an Embedded Software Developer actually do?

Today, we would like to introduce you to one of our Embedded Software Developer in more detail.

Please introduce yourself briefly.

My name is Kevin Schauerte and I work as an Embedded Software Developer at BYTEC. I develop software for our medical devices, ranging from small microcontrollers to embedded Linux systems.

Why did you choose this job?

The job here was a very good fit for what I learned during my studies. I also really liked the fact that the range of tasks here is very diverse. I work with various microcontroller architectures here.

What challenges do you see for the future?

The big topic of AI, of course. That will definitely reshape my working environment. I don't think it will jeopardize my job, but I do think it will change. At the same time, the challenge for the company is that the demands on quality and quantity are constantly increasing, while at the same time economic efficiency must be maintained.

If you could decide for yourself, what kind of product would you develop/build?

I would build something that I could use myself. Of course, this is somewhat problematic in medical technology, since ideally you don't want to use most devices yourself...

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

I would choose flying, simply because it's cool. Just flying around.

What do you like most about your job?

That I can immerse myself in a wide variety of technologies time and again. Sometimes you have to go into great depth, but that's what makes it so interesting.

What makes BYTEC a great place to work?

You have a lot of creative freedom here. I have a lot of freedom in terms of both daily planning and finding solutions.

What makes you proud to be part of our team?

The fact that I am surrounded by many talented colleagues who are all friendly. I can walk into any office and ask questions or just chat with my colleagues for a moment.
