Please introduce yourself briefly.
My name is Steffi Rademacher, and I work full-time in New Business Development at BYTEC. My responsibilities include planning and coordinating internal and external events, maintaining customer data, preparing quotations, and providing back-office support to our field sales team.
How and why did you get into medical technology?
I originally trained as a hotel management professional and spent many years working in the hospitality industry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our hotel was closed, which meant I had to rethink my career and find a new path that was better suited to my life as a mother of two. Working hours without regular weekend, public holiday, or shift work were particularly important to me.
I decided to make a career change into the construction industry, where I worked as an assistant to the project management team. However, when the company had to make redundancies for operational reasons, I once again found myself looking for a new position at short notice and applied for a number of suitable roles.
After my interview at BYTEC, I immediately felt that it could be a very good fit. I had a positive impression from the start and found both the responsibilities and the working environment very appealing. That is how I ended up in the medical technology sector somewhat by chance – and today, I am very glad that I took this path.
What is the biggest challenge in your work?
For me, the biggest challenge is balancing the demands of my job with my private life as a single mother. In my role, I need to respond flexibly to the varying requirements of our customers and projects. Priorities and plans can sometimes change at short notice, which means adapting quickly, keeping an overview, and continuing to work reliably and efficiently.
Preparing for and following up on trade fairs and events also requires a high level of organization to ensure that everything runs smoothly and every detail is taken care of.
These organizational skills are just as important in my personal life. Work appointments, last-minute changes, and family commitments all need to be carefully coordinated. This has taught me to plan ahead and adapt quickly to new situations.
Which emerging technologies in medical technology do you find particularly exciting?
I find artificial intelligence particularly fascinating. What is already possible with AI in medical technology today is truly impressive. Looking at the developments of recent years, it is clear just how quickly this field is evolving. I am very excited to see what new possibilities the future will bring.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
My superpower would be teleportation. It would not only save me a lot of commuting time, but also allow me to be exactly where I am needed, both professionally and personally. I could get from one appointment to the next more quickly, be there for my children when they need me, and at the same time have more time for the things that truly matter in everyday life and at work.
What do you like most about your job?
What I appreciate most is the variety of my responsibilities. I am able to work independently while constantly engaging with new topics and meeting different people. I also particularly value the collaboration with other departments, as bringing together different perspectives often leads to the best solutions.
The combination of autonomy, teamwork, and varied tasks is what makes my job especially rewarding. It allows me to contribute my strengths while continuously exploring new topics and developing my skills.

What makes me particularly proud is being part of a young and motivated team that works together to advance medical technology and, ultimately, help improve people’s lives. I especially appreciate the open and supportive atmosphere in our day-to-day work. Even if you approach someone who may not be the right person for a particular question, people are always willing to help and find the right colleague to turn to.
I have also formed genuine friendships at BYTEC. These personal connections mean a great deal to me and have played an important role in both my professional and, above all, my personal development.
For me, BYTEC is therefore more than just a workplace. It is an environment where I can grow, rely on others, and at the same time be myself. That is exactly what makes me proud to be part of this team.
