What does … a Project Manager Development actually do?

Today, we would like to introduce you to one of our Project Manager Development, Jennifer, in a little more detail.

Please introduce yourself briefly.

My name is Jennifer Przybylski and I have been working as a project manager in Development at BYTEC since 2023.

My role involves planning and coordinating the mechanical, hardware, software, and systems engineering aspects of development projects from the definition of objectives through to completion, and I am in direct communication with the customer.

How/why did you get into medical technology?

Through my studies. I did a bachelor's degree in design and development and a master's degree in plastics and textile engineering. This gave me an insight into how innovative solutions in medical technology can be and are. You don't see that to the same extent in other areas, which I always found very exciting. Added to that is the fact that the products bring added value for patients.

What is the biggest challenge in your work?

I didn't have to think twice about that. It's definitely ensuring the flow of information. As a project manager, I am the central hub for internal information, but also for information coming from customers and suppliers. Ensuring that everyone is equally informed can sometimes be a balancing act.

What challenges do you see for the future?

Shorter development times in any case. However, producing products of satisfactory quality that can later be brought to market at an attractive price is not getting any easier given rising prices and supply bottlenecks for hardware components.

Which emerging technologies in the field of medical technology do you find particularly exciting?

The integration of AI is quite exciting, but one must also be very careful and use it in a very targeted manner before everyone wants to treat themselves.

If you could decide for yourself, what kind of product would you develop/build?

The optimization of devices used in cancer therapy, such as in the radiation treatment of lung tumors, is an interesting topic. Adaptive algorithms are being developed so that devices can track tumors based on body movements during breathing and target them accurately. I would find further development in this area very exciting.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

When you have to choose something, you are spoiled for choice. But if I had to choose something that would help me in everyday life, it would be the ability not to talk past each other. That would definitely help me in meetings, but also in my private life, and save a lot of back-and-forth. You always think you've expressed yourself clearly, but you always end up going round in circles.

What do you like most about your job?

Starting with a blank sheet of paper and not spending every day developing slightly modified versions of the same products would be death to me. It would definitely be a change from the daily grind. For a project manager, no two days are the same, and it's anything but monotonous. I've been with BYTEC for just over two years now, and they've really flown by.

What makes BYTEC a good employer?

Unlike large corporations, there is a very informal atmosphere here, which I find very nice. There are many opportunities to get involved and shape everyday processes. You accompany a project from the start of development through to production. You don't find that in many companies.

What makes you proud to be part of our team?

BYTEC does not rigidly adhere to the mindset that things have always been done a certain way. After all, if we still did everything the way we used to, we would still have square wheels.

How would you describe our team in three words?

Curious, creative, and conscientious.

We always try to think ahead and consider more than the user will need later on.
